Sheriff Mark Dannels of Cochise County, Arizona, spoke plainly concerning the state of affairs on the southern border, confirming to the Home Judiciary Committee that it’s not safe, opposite to what Biden administration officers have mentioned.

Throughout a Wednesday listening to titled, “The Biden Border Disaster,” Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., reviewed a sequence of quotes from officers concerning the border that he mentioned had been of “explicit” import to him.

“The Secretary of Homeland Safety mentioned, ‘The border is closed, the border is safe, in March of 2021. Was that true then?” Issa requested.

“No,” Dannels replied.

“Is it true now?” Issa requested.

“No.”

Issa then referenced when Mayorkas mentioned in November 2022, “We’re working day in and time out to boost its safety.” The congressman requested Dannels if he had seen enchancment. 

“No, I’ve not,” he mentioned.

Issa then recalled that on January 8 of this 12 months, Mayorkas mentioned, “The border just isn’t open.” He requested Dannels if that was correct.

“No,” Dannels mentioned, explaining that “nearly all of individuals we speak to, the migrants which were smuggled,” mentioned they got here as a result of President Biden held out “a welcoming signal.” 

Lastly, Issa quoted Vice President Harris as saying, “The border is safe. We’ve secured the border,” and requested if this assertion can be inaccurate as nicely.

“Sure, it could,” Dannels mentioned.

Throughout his opening assertion, Dannels gave bleak account of the scenario on the border.
