President Biden on Friday didn’t take questions from the press throughout the pool spray with Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, though White Home press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated Thursday reporters would get that chance.

Biden and Varadkar every spoke briefly, taking turns giving statements expressing the friendship between the U.S. and Eire, affirming their mutual assist for Ukraine in its warfare towards Russia, and celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. On the conclusion of their remarks, reporters shouted questions, however Biden smiled and declined to reply because the press was ushered out of the room on the White Home.

Biden’s refusal to take questions broke a promise from his press secretary, who on Thursday had stated there could be a chance for the press to get solutions from the president. Reporters erupted on the White Home, declaring that the president is demonstrating a sample of avoiding the press when world leaders come to go to america.

“I’ve spoken to this many occasions … I’ve introduced it up many occasions and I gave an evidence that these are diplomatic conversations that occur with the nations which are visiting, and it’s one thing that’s determined in that approach,” Jean-Pierre had stated, sounding annoyed. 

“You are going to have a chance, or your colleagues are going to have a chance, to ask questions throughout the pool spray on the Oval that occurs each time a head of state visits. However reporters who’ve been protecting Biden for 2 years now objected that he by no means solutions questions throughout the pool sprays.

“That is not true,” Jean-Pierre insisted. “He is answered questions.”
