A instructor at a Connecticut elementary faculty has been arrested after police say a fifth-grade scholar misplaced consciousness when the instructor demonstrated a chokehold maneuver.
Stefanie Sanabria, 50, was working as a math coach at Brookside Elementary Faculty when Norwalk Public Colleges officers say she carried out a martial arts transfer on three college students.
Sanabria was employed with the college district on Aug. 24, 2021 and resigned on Friday,.Emily Morgan, a spokesperson for the college system informed USA TODAY on Wednesday.
Sanabria was later arrested and charged with second-degree strangulation, first-degree reckless endangerment and threat of harm to a minor, Norwalk police stated.

A scholar fainted
On Feb. 24, Norwalk Public Colleges notified the Norwalk Police Division of an incident at Brookside Elementary Faculty, the district wrote in a press release launched to USA TODAY.
“With the help of the Norwalk Police Division, we decided {that a} instructor was demonstrating defensive holds to college students, and a scholar fainted throughout that demonstration,” the assertion learn. “Thankfully, the coed didn’t maintain any everlasting harm.”
“The security of our college students is our first concern, and we instantly investigated the state of affairs involving Ms. Sanabria when it occurred.”
